Critical economist and researcher Parviz Sadeghat arrested by Iranian security forces

Prominent researcher, writer, and critical economist Parviz Sadeghat has been arrested by security forces in Tehran and taken to an undisclosed location.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Sadeghat, 63, was detained at his home in Tehran on Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Sources say that during the arrest, security agents searched his home and confiscated his electronic devices and several books.
Mahtab Sadeghat, Parviz Sadeghat’s daughter and the editor-in-chief of Naqd-e Eqtesad-e Siyasi (Critique of Political Economy), said in an interview that she has no information about the reason for her father’s arrest and that he has not yet been allowed to make contact with his family.
Sadeghat, who previously worked as the editor of Bourse Monthly and Sarmaye Newspaper, has compiled and translated several books, including From the Financial Collapse to Economic Recession: The Roots of the Great Financial Crisis.
No information has been released regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges brought against him, or his current condition.
