Baha’i adherent Farhad Fahandezh detained once again

Farhad Fahandezh, a 67-year-old Baha’i resident of Gorgan and former prisoner of conscience, was detained by security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and taken to an undisclosed location. Fahandezh had previously been released in September 2022 after serving ten years in Rajaei Shahr Prison in Karaj.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Fahandezh was detained at his home on November 12, 2025. Security forces entered his residence before taking the 67-year-old Baha’i man into custody.

Security forces also searched the home and confiscated several digital devices, religious books, and personal photographs belonging to Fahandezh and his family members.

Fahandezh has previously been detained multiple times and has served a total of fifteen years in prison. He was arrested in 2012 and sentenced by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to ten years in prison, eventually being released in September 2022 after completing the full term.

During his decade-long imprisonment, Fahandezh suffered from heart and gastrointestinal illnesses and was denied medical care as well as furlough, including permission to attend his mother’s funeral.

He had also been arrested in 1983 at the age of 24 for his religious beliefs and spent six years in prison.

There is currently no confirmed information regarding the reasons for this latest detention, the charges against Fahandezh, his place of detention, or his current condition.
