At least 85 Afghan nationals executed in Iran since beginning of 2025

With the execution of an Afghan prisoner identified as Bismullah Tajik, previously sentenced to death on charges of premeditated murder, the number of Afghan nationals executed in Iran since the start of 2025 has reached at least 85.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Tajik’s death sentence was carried out at dawn on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in Bandar Abbas Central Prison.
Sources familiar with the case stated that he had earlier been arrested on murder charges and later sentenced to death by the judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iranian state media and judiciary-affiliated outlets have not reported this execution.
According to documented data recorded by Hengaw’s Statistics and Documentation Center, at least 85 Afghan nationals have been executed in Iranian prisons since the beginning of 2025.
