Hengaw – Tuesday, December 16, 2025

Iran has carried out the death sentences of nine prisoners, including Kurdish and Arab inmates, in prisons across several provinces. The executions took place in Ahvaz, Borazjan, Jiroft, Ilam, Birjand, Bam, Yazd, and Khaf.
All of the prisoners had previously been sentenced to death by Iran’s judiciary on charges of premeditated murder or drug-related offences.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Ali Mohammad Roshanfekr, an Arab man from Ahvaz; Keyhan Abbasi, from Borazjan in Bushehr Province; and Nejat Rajabi, from Jiroft in Kerman Province, were executed at dawn on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, Borazjan Prison, and Jiroft Prison, respectively. All three had been convicted of premeditated murder.

On the same day, three additional prisoners — Qobad Fathollahi, a Kurdish man from Ilam; Mahmoud Din-Mohammadi, from Birjand in South Khorasan Province; and Yazdan Mohammadi-Khani, from Bam in Kerman Province — were executed in Ilam, Birjand, and Bam prisons, also on charges of intentional murder.

Later that day, the death sentences of three more prisoners — Jassem Saqqaei and Khaleq Zolfaghari, both convicted of murder, and Ata Shahsavari, convicted on drug-related charges — were carried out in prisons in Yazd and Khaf in Razavi Khorasan Province.

None of the executions were announced by Iranian state media or outlets affiliated with the judiciary.
