Iranian authorities execute at least 11 prisoners in multiple facilities

Iran has executed at least 11 prisoners in multiple detention facilities across the country, according to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

Those executed were identified as Abolfazl Shirzadi-Moqaddam, Mahmoud Farahmand, Rasoul Shahi, Jafar Hedayati, Mohammadreza Moqaddam, Farhad Valadbeigi, Shirzad Farhangi, Arian Jokar, Arslan Arab, Kambiz Dirbaziyan, and a Gilak prisoner with the surname Norzad whose first name remains unknown. All had previously been sentenced to death by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic of Iran on charges including “premeditated murder” and offenses related to “drug trafficking.”

According to information documented by Hengaw, executions were carried out at dawn on Thursday, December 18, 2025, in detention facilities in Malayer and Zanjan. Those put to death included Abolfazl (Hossein) Shirzadi-Moqaddam, a 30-year-old Lor from the village of Kahkadan in the Samen district of Malayer County, Hamadan Province, who had spent three years on death row following a conviction for “premeditated murder.” On the same morning, Mahmoud Farahmand, 52, and Rasoul Shahi, 48, both residents of Rey County near Tehran, were executed after nearly three years on death row in a joint case related to “drug trafficking.”

Hengaw further documented that three additional prisoners were executed at dawn on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, in detention facilities in Aligudarz and Qazvin. Jafar Hedayati, a 30-year-old Lor from Aligudarz in Lorestan Province, had been sentenced to death five years earlier on charges of “premeditated murder.” Mohammadreza Moqaddam, 49, a father of two from Qazvin, and Farhad Valadbeigi, 36, a father of one from Karaj, were also put to death after serving four and three years on death row, respectively, in cases related to “drug trafficking.”

During the same period, two more executions were recorded in detention facilities in Gonabad, in Razavi Khorasan Province, and Quchan. Shirzad Farhangi was executed on charges related to “drug trafficking,” while Arian Jokar, a Kurdish man from Quchan in Razavi Khorasan Province, was put to death following a conviction for “premeditated murder.”

Further executions took place at dawn on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, when Arslan Arab, a 32-year-old Arab man from Dezful in Khuzestan Province, and Kambiz Dirbaziyan were executed in detention facilities in Dezful and Esfarayen, in North Khorasan Province. Arab had been sentenced to death about five years earlier following a street altercation that resulted in a fatality and a conviction for “premeditated murder,” while Dirbaziyan had been convicted on charges related to “drug trafficking.”

A Gilak prisoner with the surname Norzad, from Nowshahr in Mazandaran Province, was also executed at dawn on Monday, December 15, 2025, in a detention facility in Nowshahr after being convicted of “premeditated murder.”

Iranian state media, particularly outlets affiliated with the judiciary, have not officially reported these executions.
