Arab religious activists Aref Shamousi and Mohammad Badr arrested in Ahvaz

Iranian authorities have arrested two Arab religious activists, Aref Shamousi and Mohammad Badr, in Ahvaz and transferred them to an undisclosed location.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the two men were arrested at their private homes in the Malashieh district of Ahvaz on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, before being transferred to an undisclosed location by government forces.
During the arrests, government forces searched the men’s homes and confiscated a number of personal belongings.
No information has been made available regarding the reasons for the arrests, the charges against them, or their current place of detention.
