Arab religious activist Abdulaziz Naami arrested in Ahvaz

Abdulaziz Naami, an Arab religious activist from Ahvaz, has been arrested by intelligence units of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and transferred to an undisclosed location.

Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Naami was detained on Friday, November 14, 2025, as he was returning from Friday prayers. According to informed sources, he was beaten severely during the arrest.

The arrest comes amid a broader pattern in recent months, during which dozens of Sunni citizens have been detained on the basis of their religious beliefs and under various security and ideological accusations.
