Jalil Doustyar Barahoui killed by Iranian government gunfire during protests in Meybod

Jalil Doustyar Barahoui, a Baloch resident of Meybod, was killed after being shot directly by Iranian government forces during protests in the city.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the incident occurred on Friday, January 9, 2026, when government forces opened fire on protesters.
Barahoui, 22, was originally from Zahedan.

Barahoui had traveled to Meybod for work, Haalvsh News, which covers developments in Baluchistan, reported. He was working as a laborer when he was struck in the chest by live ammunition fired by Iranian government forces and later died from his injuries.

His body was laid to rest on Friday, January 16, following a funeral prayer at Makki Mosque.
