Hengaw has confirmed the identities of four individuals killed during recent protests in the cities of Shahrekord, Kerman, Yazd, and Lordegan after being shot directly by Iranian government forces. The victims are Alireza Ahmadi Babadi in Shahrekord, Mehdi Iranpour in Kerman, Danial Karshenas in Yazd, and Ali Khaledi in Lordegan.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Alireza Ahmadi Babadi was killed on Thursday, January 8, 2026, during protests in Shahrekord, after being struck by direct fire from military-grade weapons.
On the same day, Mehdi Iranpour, a 30-year-old kickboxing coach from Kerman, was shot by government forces shortly after leaving a sports club. Despite being rushed to hospital and undergoing emergency treatment, he succumbed to severe injuries and internal bleeding. A source close to the family told Hengaw that he was accompanying his students and attempting to keep them away from the protests when he was targeted.
Danial Karshenas, 31, was killed by direct gunfire during protests in Yazd on Friday, January 9, 2026. His body was identified by his family after a week of uncertainty and was subsequently buried under heavy security restrictions.
Hengaw has also learned that Ali Khaledi, a resident of Lordegan in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province, was killed by direct gunfire during protests in the city. His funeral was held on January 18, 2026, with a large public turnout, during which mourners chanted slogans against the Islamic Republic of Iran and Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. It remains unclear whether he was killed on January 8 or 9.
Hengaw confirms that on January 8 and 9, Iranian government forces responded to recent protests with extreme violence, employing military-grade weapons and firing live ammunition at close range and in sustained volleys toward demonstrators.
