December Protests - 29 more detained as arrests expand across Ilam and Kermanshah

At least 29 people, including one teenager, one university student, and two women, have been detained by institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran in connection with the December protests across multiple cities in Ilam and Kermanshah provinces. All were transferred to undisclosed locations.

The arrests were reported in Dehloran, Malekshahi, Badreh, Abdanan, Sarableh, Harsin, Islamabad-e Gharb, Mahidasht, Gilan-e Gharb, Kermanshah, Nurabad, and Darreh Shahr.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Shahin Ghasrbigi was detained in Sarableh, while Mohammad-Amin Bazgir, 19, Nima Naseri, 20, and Hassan Nordivand, 30, all from Darreh Shahr, were arrested on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Delaram Kazemi, a resident of Gilan-e Gharb, was also detained on the same day and has since been temporarily released.

In Dehloran, Salman Mardani, Alireza Momeni, an 18-year-old university student, Abolfazl Saki, a 17-year-old teenager, and Sajjad Khorshidi, 30, were detained on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

That same day, four Kurdish individuals were arrested in Kermanshah Province: Mohammad Ziyadi in Kermanshah, Saeed Darvishi in Islamabad-e Gharb, Meysam Behzadi in Mahidasht, and Yousef Salkhordeh, a tattoo artist from Gilan-e Gharb.

As the arrests continued, Zabih Abdi, along with two brothers, Hamid Karami and Mehdi Karami, all from Kermanshah, were detained. In Ilam Province, Abdollah Ahmadi, 38, Pouya Naderi, 19, and Mehdi Sheikhi, 32, were arrested in Abdanan.

At the same time, Mostafa Faraji from Malekshahi, Zelal Sadeghi, 56, from Chardavol, and Faizeh Rashidi from Badreh were detained by Iranian authorities and transferred to undisclosed locations.

Amin Shokri-Pour and Shahrooz Shokri-Pour, both from Darreh Shahr, along with Reza Bagherinejad in Sarableh and Ali Cheraghi, Milad Alibeygi, and Rahim Mohammadvalli in Harsin, were detained on Friday, January 2, 2026.

Mostafa Asadbeygi was detained in Nurabad, Lorestan Province, on Thursday, January 1, 2026, and no information has since been made available regarding his fate or whereabouts.
