Rasul Kadivarian, 17, and brother Reza shot dead by Iranian forces in Kermanshah

Rasul Kadivarian, a 17-year-old Kurdish teenager, and his older brother Reza Kadivarian were shot dead after Iranian forces opened direct fire on protesters during demonstrations in Kermanshah.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Reza Kadivarian, 20, from the Dipin neighborhood of Kermanshah, was critically wounded by direct gunfire during protests in the Jafarabad area of the city. He fell into a coma and later died at Taleghani Hospital on Sunday evening, January 4, 2026.

Rasul Kadivarian, his younger brother, was shot and killed instantly by Iranian forces on Saturday evening, January 3, 2026, during the same protests.

Sources familiar with the case told Hengaw that the two brothers were targeted by direct gunfire while participating in demonstrations on Artesh Street in the Jafarabad neighborhood. Rasul died at the scene, while Reza was severely injured and later succumbed to his wounds after being transferred to hospital.

The bodies of both brothers have not yet been handed over to their family.
