Arvin Nikpey, a Kurdish resident of Marivan and a former detainee of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protest movement, has been arrested to serve a three-year discretionary prison sentence and transferred to prison.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Nikpey, 22, a resident of the village of Ney in Marivan County, was arrested on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, and transferred to Marivan Prison.
Arvin Nikpey had previously been sentenced by the Marivan Revolutionary Court to 11 years in prison on charges including “acting against national security,” “cooperation with the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan,” and “propaganda against the government.” The sentence was later reduced to three years’ imprisonment.
Nikpey was first arrested on Tuesday, February 1, 2023, in Marivan, during a raid by intelligence forces.
While held at the Intelligence Department detention center, he attempted suicide and was transferred to Fajr Hospital in Marivan on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
