December Protests – Sogol Hashemi injured and her father Amir Hashemi arrested in Sari

Sogol Hashemi, a resident of Sari, was injured by direct gunfire from Iranian government forces during recent protests in the city. Her father, Amir Hashemi, was also arrested by the Intelligence Organization of the IRGC and transferred to an undisclosed location.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Sogol Hashemi was wounded after government forces opened direct fire with live ammunition on protesters in Sari on Thursday, January 8, 2026. On the same day, her father was arrested by IRGC intelligence agents and taken to an unknown location.
Sources told Hengaw that Sogol Hashemi sustained a fracture to her leg after being struck by live ammunition fired by government forces. Amir Hashemi remains in detention, and no information has so far been released regarding his whereabouts or condition.
