Hengaw – Thursday, February 19, 2026

Asghar Fathi, a young Kurdish man from Dargaz in Razavi Khorasan Province, went missing in Tehran amid the recent protests under unclear circumstances.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Asghar Fathi, a resident of Mohammad Taqi Beyg village in Dargaz County, disappeared on the evening of Thursday, January 8, 2026. Hengaw has learned that he told relatives he was heading out to take part in the protests before he vanished.

A source close to Fathi’s family stated that no information about his fate has been obtained in the 41 days since his disappearance.

Given that Fathi went missing on the same night authorities shut down the internet and carried out widespread killings and arrests of protesters, there are serious concerns that he may have been subjected to enforced disappearance.
