IRGC Intelligence forces violently arrested Arian Tarvand, a 21-year-old Kurd from Mehran in Ilam province and a member of a justice-seeking family. Four days after his arrest, his whereabouts and condition remain unknown, and no information has been provided about the charges against him. Tarvand is the nephew of Saeed Tarvand, who was killed during the January 2026 protests.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, plainclothes IRGC Intelligence forces arrested Tarvand on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, after raiding his family home. The forces used severe violence and carried out the arrest without presenting a warrant.

Informed sources told Hengaw that the forces blindfolded and handcuffed Tarvand during the arrest.

Despite repeated inquiries by his family, authorities have provided no explanation for his arrest. He has been denied access to a lawyer, phone calls, and family visits since his detention.

Arian Tarvand is the nephew of Saeed Tarvand, a 33-year-old contractor for an oil company in Abadan who was shot and killed with live ammunition by Iranian forces during protests in the city on the evening of January 8, 2026.
