Hengaw – Tuesday, February 10, 2026

A Tehran court has sentenced Rebwar Marabi, a 26-year-old Kurdish resident of Tehran originally from the village of Marab in Kamyaran County, to 10 years of discretionary imprisonment on charges of “cooperation with Israel.” He had been arrested during the December protests in the capital.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the sentence was issued by Judge Mohammadreza Amouzad, head of Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

Sources report that Marabi was denied access to legal counsel and family visitation throughout his detention and court proceedings. He has spent more than one month in Great Tehran Penitentiary and remains in custody there.

An informed source stated that Marabi has worked for years as a chef in Tehran and maintains his residence in the city. Despite this, the case file claims that he relocated to Tehran solely to cooperate with Israel and take part in protests.

He was arrested by government forces on the evening of January 9, 2026, during protests in Tehran and was subsequently transferred to Great Tehran Penitentiary.
