Three former Kurdish political prisoners rearrested in Sanandaj

Three former Kurdish political prisoners, Afshin Hosseinpanahi, Khabat Dehdar, and Jamal Asadi, were rearrested by Iranian government forces in Sanandaj (Sine).
Based on information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the three residents of Sanandaj were taken into custody on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. During the arrests, government forces confiscated Jamal Asadi’s mobile phone.
Afshin Hosseinpanahi was previously sentenced by the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court in November 2017. After serving nearly three years of a six-year prison sentence, he was released from prison on conditional amnesty on April 26, 2020.
In a separate case, Khabat Dehdar, a labor activist from Sanandaj, was sentenced in mid-November 2023 by Branch One of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to one year of suspended imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the state.”
Authorities have disclosed no information regarding their current whereabouts, legal status, or any charges against them.
