Three Kurds arrested by Iranian government forces in Quchan and Bojnord

Amid the continuing wave of widespread detentions, three Kurdish men, Elyas Rahimzadeh, Mahdi Naqdi, and Morteza Hosseini, have been arrested by Iranian government forces in the cities of Bojnord and Quchan, and their fate remains unknown.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Elyas Rahimzadeh, a Kurdish resident of Bojnord, was arrested by government forces in the city on January 13, 2026, and transferred to an undisclosed location. Despite more than 20 days having passed since his arrest, his family’s efforts to obtain information about his whereabouts and situation have been unsuccessful.

In a separate incident, Mahdi Naqdi, a 38-year-old Kurd from Faruj County in North Khorasan Province, was arrested together with Morteza Hosseini on January 8, 2026. The two had traveled to Quchan to receive medical test results when they were detained by government forces on one of the city’s streets.

Both men were subsequently transferred to Quchan Central Prison. However, no official information has been released regarding the reasons for their arrest, the charges against them, or their current condition.
