At least six women arrested across several Iranian cities

At least six women have been arrested by Iranian government forces in the cities of Sanandaj, Quchan, Qazvin, Kazerun, Aran va Bidgol, and Shirvan, according to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, The arrests took place over recent weeks amid the continuing wave of detentions, and in most cases no clear information has been released regarding charges, legal status, or conditions of detention.
Quchan
Farzaneh Ramazani, a Turkish resident of Quchan, was arrested by government forces on January 9, 2026, and transferred to Quchan Prison. More than one month after her arrest, and despite repeated follow-up by her family, no reliable information has been released regarding her status.
Sanandaj
Novin Zarei, a Kurdish women’s rights activist from Sanandaj, was arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents on February 12, 2026, and taken to the city’s intelligence detention facility. Officers reportedly confiscated her mobile phone at the time of arrest. No official information has been published about the charges against her.
Qazvin
Mastaneh (Masoumeh) Moradkhani, a 36-year-old Turkish woman living in Qazvin, was arrested more than one month ago and transferred to Choobindar Prison in Qazvin. No confirmed details are available regarding the accusations against her.
Kazerun
Maryam Deris, a civil activist from Kazerun, was re-arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents at her home on February 14, 2026, and transferred to an undisclosed location. She had previously been released from Adelabad Prison in Shiraz in October 2025 after serving a lengthy sentence. No information has been released about the new charges or her current place of detention.
Aran va Bidgol
Fatemeh Chalouei, a resident of Aran va Bidgol, was arrested during public protests in the city’s Bilal Square on January 9, 2026. She was later released on bail on February 8, 2026. Reports indicate that her 19-year-old daughter may also have been arrested at the same time; however, this has not been independently confirmed by Hengaw sources.
Shirvan
Zahra Farrokhi, a Turkish resident of Zovaram village in Shirvan County, North Khorasan Province, was arrested by government forces during public protests on January 8, 2026. No information has since been released regarding her whereabouts or condition.
