Four Kurdish residents of Darreh Shahr remain in prolonged detention in Karaj and Tehran
Hengaw – Saturday, February 14, 2026
Four Kurdish residents of Darreh Shahr in Ilam Province have remained in detention for over a month after being arrested by Iranian government forces in Karaj and Tehran, with their cases still unresolved.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Kamyar Amraei, 22, Amir Amraei, 23, and Mohammad Shamsi, 29, were arrested in Karaj on January 9, 2026, while Ali Amraei, 29, was detained one day earlier, on January 8, in Tehran. All four have since remained in custody without clarification of their legal status.
Hengaw has learned that Ali Amraei is currently being held in Great Tehran Penitentiary, while the three other detainees are being held in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj.
Informed sources say the four detainees are facing potential security-related charges and the risk of heavy sentences, while being denied access to basic legal rights.
Efforts by their families to secure temporary release have so far failed, and their detention orders have reportedly been extended.
