Blogger Donya Hosseini jailed to serve sentence in Tehran

Donya Hosseini, a Khuzestani blogger residing in Tehran, has been arrested to serve her three-and-a-half-year prison sentence and transferred to Evin Prison. She had previously been detained during the 12-day Iran–Israel war period.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, government forces arrested Donya Hosseini (Azad), 37, at her home on Saturday, February 14, 2026. She was transferred the following day, Sunday, February 15, to Evin Prison to begin serving her sentence.

Hosseini had earlier announced on November 30 that she had received a summons to report for the enforcement of her prison term, and on December 1 she received a text message notification imposing a travel ban.

She was previously sentenced by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, to three years and six months of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of “propaganda against the state in favor of strengthening and supporting Israel.” The ruling was upheld in full in November by Branch 36 of the Tehran Court of Appeals, headed by Judge Khojasteh.

Hosseini was first arrested by governement forces in Tehran on June 16, 2025, and was later released from Qarchak Prison on August 3 after posting bail of 3 billion tomans.

In a separate earlier case in 2023, she had also received a suspended five-year prison sentence and a monetary fine.
