Hengaw – Tuesday, February 17, 2026

Two cousins from the city of Sanandaj — Voria Moayed and Heybat Moayed — remain in detention more than six weeks after being arrested by Iran’s Intelligence Ministry, with their legal status still unclear, according to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.

Sources say Heybat Moayed, 41, has been held for 52 days, while Voria Moayed has been detained for 44 days. Both are being held in an Intelligence Ministry detention facility in Sanandaj under ongoing interrogation and pressure.

According to informed sources, Voria Moayed has underlying health conditions, raising concern about his wellbeing, particularly due to reports that he is being held in solitary confinement. Heybat Moayed’s family has not had any contact with him for more than a month.

Heybat Moayed was arrested by intelligence agents on December 27, 2025. Voria Moayed was detained several days later, on December 31. He has previously been summoned and arrested by authorities in connection with his activities.

Authorities have not publicly announced any charges against the two detainees.
