Two Kurdish men, Kaveh Abdollahzadeh and Awat Sargali, arrested in Naqadeh and Mahabad

As part of an ongoing wave of widespread arrests targeting Kurds, Kaveh Abdollahzadeh and Awat Sargoli have been detained by forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the cities of Naqadeh and Mahabad.
According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, 39-year-old Kaveh Abdollahzadeh, from the village of Khalifan in Naqadeh, was arrested by security forces on Friday, March 20, 2026.
Sources report that government agents stopped and detained him on the Mahabad–Naqadeh road without presenting any warrant. Abdollahzadeh, who is married and the father of three children, was subsequently transferred to Naqadeh Central Prison.
On the same day, another man, Awat Sargoli, from the village of Kuseh Kahriz in Mahabad, was arrested following a raid by government forces on his home, also without the presentation of any warrant.
No clear information is available regarding the reasons for their arrests or the charges brought against them. Efforts by their families to obtain information about their fate and current condition have so far been unsuccessful.
