Iranian authorities arrest Shwaneh Alizadeh in Mahabad

Iranian authorities have arrested Shwaneh Alizadeh in Mahabad and transferred him to an undisclosed location, as part of the ongoing wave of arrests across various cities in Kurdistan.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Iranian government forces raided his family home in Mahabad on Sunday, March 22, 2026, and arrested the 37-year-old man without presenting a warrant.

Sources told Hengaw that the authorities searched the house and carried out the arrest using violence.

Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for his arrest, any charges against him, or his place of detention. Efforts by his family to obtain information about his situation have so far been unsuccessful.
