Kurdish man Afshin Najm arrested by Iranian intelligence forces in Saqqez

Agents of the Ministry of Intelligence in the city of Saqqez have arrested a Kurdish man, identified as Afshin Najm, and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, intelligence forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran raided Najm’s residence in Saqqez on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, and arrested him.

A source close to the family stated that Najm was detained on charges of “possession and use of Starlink satellite internet equipment.” During the operation, agents also searched his home and confiscated personal belongings.

No precise information is available regarding his place of detention, health condition, or current status. Efforts by his family to obtain information from security institutions have so far been unsuccessful.
