Hengaw — Sunday, April 5, 2026
Iranian security forces have held two Kurdish men, Abdollah Mahjour and Salar Azar, incommunicado in Saqqez for nearly a month, with no information available about their fate.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights,
Mahjour, 59, and Azar, 36, both residents of Saqqez, have been in detention for 27 days under unknown conditions.
The two men were arrested on March 8, 2026, after leaving their home in Saqqez. Witnesses reported that agents from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) carried out the arrests.
Both the IRGC intelligence unit and the Saqqez prosecutor’s office have refused to acknowledge responsibility for their detention, despite reports confirming their arrest.
Mahjour, who suffers from underlying health conditions and a disability, has previously been detained and subjected to torture by security forces.
Sources also said authorities confiscated the men’s mobile phones and responded to some incoming calls after their arrest.
Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for their detention, the charges against them, or their place of custody. Efforts by their families to obtain information about their fate have so far been unsuccessful.
