Hengaw – Monday, April 20, 2026

Sasan Pakravan, a Kurdish man from Ilam who had been detained on serious charges including “waging war against God” (moharebeh), has been temporarily released from prison on heavy bail. He was among those arrested during the December protests.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Pakravan was released from Ilam Central Prison after posting bail set at 8 billion tomans on Thursday, April 17, 2026.

The bail was secured through property and a guarantee provided by a state employee, pending the completion of legal proceedings.

He was arrested on January 27, 2026, during a raid on his family home by government forces, who used significant violence during the operation.

Informed sources state that judicial and security bodies have charged Pakravan with “waging war against God” (moharebeh) and “shooting,” accusations that can carry severe penalties under Iranian law.

Throughout his detention, Pakravan was denied access to his basic rights as a detainee. After nearly three months in custody, he was granted temporary release upon the submission of substantial bail and a salary-backed guarantee from a state employee.
