Behrouz Hemmati held without charges after arrest in Abdanan

Behrouz Hemmati, a Kurdish resident of Abdanan and a healthcare worker, was arrested by Iranian forces and transferred to Mahpareh Prison in Dareh Shahr County.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Iranian forces arrested Hemmati in Abdanan on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, without presenting a warrant.

Hengaw has learned that Hemmati, 42, is an employee of Rasoul Akram Hospital in Abdanan. He was initially taken to an undisclosed location after his arrest. Subsequent follow-up inquiries confirmed that he was later transferred to Mahpareh Prison in Dareh Shahr, located in Ilam Province.

Several days after his arrest, the reasons for Hemmati’s detention and any charges against him have still not been disclosed by the security or judicial authorities.

Reports also indicate that he has been denied access to a lawyer and contact with his family.
