At least four Kurds detained in multiple cities across Iran

Iranian government forces have detained at least four Kurdish individuals in Sirvan, Gilan-e Gharb, Tehran, and Quchan as part of the continuing wave of arrests linked to the recent protests.

The Statistics and Documentation Center of Hengaw Organization for Human Rights has so far verified the identities of 600 Kurdish individuals detained during the recent protests.

Sirvan, Ilam Province

Security forces arrested Malek Khalafi, a resident of Lumar in Sirvan County, Ilam Province, on January 12, 2026, without a warrant and transferred him to an undisclosed location. Thirty-two days after his arrest, no information has been released about his whereabouts or condition.

An informed source said he has been denied access to a lawyer and has not been allowed to contact or receive visits from his family.

Gilan-e Gharb

Authorities re-arrested Hossein Fattahi, an artist from Gilan-e Gharb. Eleven days after his detention, his situation remains unknown.

He was first arrested on January 7, 2026, during protests in the city. He sustained injuries from beatings during his arrest, was hospitalized for several days, and was later released temporarily before being detained again.

Tehran

Security forces arrested Arman Maroufi, originally from Saqqez and residing in Tehran, on January 7, 2026, during protests in the capital. They transferred him to an undisclosed location, and no information has since been made available about his fate.

Quchan

Authorities arrested Yashar Qaderi, from the village of Jartudeh in Quchan County and a resident of Quchan, on January 7, 2026, during protests in the city. He was taken to an undisclosed location, and his current whereabouts remain unknown.

Authorities have provided no explanation for the arrests or filed any charges. The detainees’ current whereabouts and legal status remain unknown.
