Kurdish singer Seyed Ali Qoreishi remains detained incommunicado in Bukan

Four days after the arrest of Seyed Ali Qoreishi, a Kurdish singer from Bukan, no information has been made available regarding his fate.
According to information obtained by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Iranian government forces raided the home of Seyed Ali Qoreishi, a 66-year-old singer from Bukan, on the evening of Monday, May 11, 2026, and arrested him without presenting any warrant.
During this period, he has been denied access to legal counsel and has not been permitted even a brief phone call with his family.
Seyed Ali Qoreishi is a well-known folk singer in Bukan who has spent years preserving and performing Kurdish folkloric and traditional music.
No information has been provided regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him or the authority responsible for his detention. Repeated efforts by his family to obtain information from security and judicial institutions in Bukan have so far been met with no response from officials.
