Hengaw – Saturday, May 23, 2026

Alireza Moradpour, a Lor artist and cinema graduate from Dehdasht currently held in Greater Tehran Penitentiary (Fashafouyeh), has been sentenced by the Tehran Revolutionary Court to a total of seven years and six months in prison.

According to a report received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the verdict was recently issued and formally communicated to Moradpour. Under the ruling, he was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of “insulting sacred beliefs” and an additional three years and six months on charges of “assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security.”

Under Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code, which governs multiple offenses, only the harshest sentence — four years of imprisonment — will be enforceable.

Reports indicate that Moradpour’s trial was conducted via video conference without his physical presence in court and failed to meet fair trial standards.

Alireza Moradpour, a native of Dehdasht in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province, is an artist and graduate in cinema studies. Iranian authorities arrested him on April 2, 2026. After completing interrogation procedures, he was transferred to Greater Tehran Penitentiary, where he has remained in custody ever since.
