Najmeh Rouhandeh denied legal rights amid ongoing detention in Mashhad

Najmeh Rouhandeh, a resident of Mashhad, has remained in legal limbo for 51 days at Vakilabad Prison in the city following her arrest by government forces.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Rouhandeh was arrested by government forces in Mashhad on the evening of Friday, March 20, 2026, on the eve of the New Year celebrations. She was later transferred to the women’s ward of Vakilabad Prison after undergoing interrogation.
Despite repeated efforts by her family to obtain information, judicial and government authorities in Mashhad have refused to provide any clear explanation regarding the charges against her or the reasons for her continued detention.
During the past 51 days, Najmeh Rouhandeh has been deprived of basic legal rights, including access to a fair trial, legal representation, and temporary release on bail.
