Six Baloch arrested, seven women, including a minor, injured during crackdown on protest in Kerman
Hengaw – Thursday, June 18, 2026
Iranian security forces violently dispersed a peaceful protest near the chromite mine in Pashmouki village, Faryab County, arresting six Baloch residents, including three women, and injuring seven women, including a 17-year-old minor.
Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights shows that security forces raided the protest gathering on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, and arrested Marzieh Hout, 28, Mah Bibi Hout, 37, Somayeh Bamari, 32, Ali Bakhsh Bamari, 46, Reza Beig Bamari, 43, and Anvar Hout, 40.
The seven injured protesters included six adult women and a 17-year-old minor: Soraya Hout, 29, Masoumeh Hout, 27, Mina Hout, 17, Dorkhatoun Hout, 36, Safieh Bamari, 30, Mahnoor Bamari, 34, and Bibi Naz Bamari, 40.
According to Haalvsh, the protest was held in response to the transfer and operation of the region's chromite mine. Demonstrators were demanding accountability from authorities over the exclusion of local residents from the mine's benefits and the continued disregard for their rights.
Security forces moved to disperse the protesters using batons and physical violence, escalating the situation and resulting in the arrests and injuries.
The detained residents were transferred to an undisclosed location, and efforts by their families to obtain information about their condition and whereabouts have so far been unsuccessful.
The violent suppression of a peaceful labor-related protest, including the use of force against women and a child, constitutes a clear violation of Articles 9 and 21 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which guarantee the rights to personal security and peaceful assembly.
