62-year-old Baha’i woman Farideh Abdi Yazdi remains detained without charge and denied medical care in Isfahan
Hengaw – Monday, June 22, 2026
Farideh Abdi Yazdi, a 62-year-old Baha’i resident of Shahin Shahr, has remained in legal limbo at Dowlatabad Prison in Isfahan for more than a month since her arrest. Despite suffering from multiple underlying health conditions, she has been denied access to adequate medical care.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Farideh Abdi Yazdi was arrested on Saturday, May 16, 2026, during a raid by agents of the Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on her family home in Shahin Shahr. During the raid, security forces searched the residence and confiscated several personal belongings, including her mobile phone.
According to informed sources, Abdi Yazdi suffers from several chronic medical conditions, including diabetes and hypothyroidism, and has recently developed a severe dental infection while in prison. Despite her age and urgent need for specialized medical treatment and transfer to an outside medical facility, prison authorities and security agencies have so far refused to authorize her transfer, placing her health and well-being at serious risk.
More than one month after her arrest, no information has been made available regarding the reasons for her detention or any charges brought against her. Her case remains unresolved and shrouded in uncertainty.
Farideh Abdi Yazdi has previously faced arrests and judicial-security pressure because of her religious beliefs as a member of the Baha’i community.
