Hengaw – Monday, June 29, 2026
Saba Talebi, a 23-year-old blogger from Mashhad, remains detained in the women's ward of Vakilabad Prison more than a month after her arrest, as Iranian judicial authorities continue to deny her temporary release.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Talebi is being held in the prison's "Aramesh Ward," while judicial authorities continue to obstruct her release. Thirty-four days after her arrest, the investigating judge has repeatedly extended her pretrial detention and continues to refuse to set bail for her temporary release.
The Iranian Judiciary has charged Talebi over her social media activities with "insulting the Supreme Leader," "insulting Islamic sanctities," and "propaganda against the state."
Intelligence Department forces arrested Talebi at her home in Mashhad on May 26, 2026, after searching the residence and confiscating electronic devices. She was initially transferred to a security detention facility and, following the completion of her preliminary interrogation, was moved to the women's ward of Vakilabad Prison, where she remains in custody.
