Negar Parviznia released after aunt Kaziveh Parviznia surrenders to Intelligence Department
Hengaw – Monday, June 29, 2026
Kaziveh Parviznia remains detained in the women's ward of Urmia Central Prison more than two weeks after her arrest. Her niece, Negar Parviznia, was released after Kaziveh surrendered to the Intelligence Department.
According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Intelligence Department forces raided Kaziveh Parviznia's family home in Mahabad on June 12, 2026, without presenting a warrant. When they failed to find her, the forces detained her niece, Negar Parviznia, as a hostage. The Intelligence Department later informed the family that Negar would be released only if Kaziveh turned herself in. Under this pressure, Kaziveh reported to the Mahabad Intelligence Department, where she was arrested and transferred to a security detention facility in Urmia.
Hengaw has learned that Iranian judicial and security authorities interrogated Kaziveh on the charge of "filming during the 40-day war between the United States, Israel, and Iran." After completing interrogations in a secret detention facility, authorities transferred her to the women's ward of Urmia Central Prison and opened a joint security case against her.
Kaziveh remains detained without being formally charged, and no information has been released regarding the progress of her case.
