Concern grows over fate of university student Abolfazl Chamani following arrest

Abolfazl Chamani, a student of pure mathematics at the University of Tehran, was arrested by Iranian security forces and transferred to an undisclosed location. Eleven days later, no information has emerged regarding his fate or whereabouts.

United Students reported that efforts by Chamani’s relatives to obtain information about his condition have so far been unsuccessful, raising growing concerns over his safety and well-being.

Information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights indicates that Chamani was arrested on June 1, 2026, and subsequently taken to an unknown location by security forces.

Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for his arrest, any charges against him, or the location where he is being held. His current whereabouts, legal status, and any charges against him remain unknown.
