Three men killed by Iranian government forces in Zahedan

Three residents of Zahedan were killed after Iranian government forces opened fire on two vehicles in the city on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Hengaw Organization for Human Rights  has verified the identities of the three men as Mohammad Khamr, 25, a resident of Zahedan, Alireza Arang, 26, and Mohammad Bandani, both originally from Zabol and residing in Zahedan.

Government forces opened fire on their vehicles on Bozorgmehr and Janbazan streets in Zahedan.

The deputy commander of the police in Sistan and Baluchestan Province stated that the incident occurred after officers identified and pursued two vehicles in Zahedan. According to the official account, the occupants allegedly failed to comply with an order to stop, prompting officers to open fire. Three people were killed and one person was arrested.

The official also claimed that four firearms and clothing resembling police uniforms were recovered from the vehicles. Iranian state media described the deceased as “armed robbers.”
