Hadiseh Morvaridi sentenced to three years in prison over January protests

Iranian authorities have sentenced Hadiseh Morvaridi, a 24-year-old political prisoner detained during the January 2026 protests, to a total of three years in prison in two separate cases. She is currently held at Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Morvaridi, who is from Fariman County in Razavi Khorasan Province, was recently transferred from the "Aramesh" ward to Ward 1 of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.

A branch of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad sentenced Morvaridi to two years in prison on the charge of "insulting the Supreme Leader" in one case. In a separate case, she received an additional one-year prison sentence on the charge of "propaganda against the state."

Morvaridi was arrested on Thursday, January 8, 2026, during the protests in Fariman and was subsequently transferred to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
