Civil activist Hossein Alizadeh detained in Eslamshahr, whereabouts unknown
Hengaw – Thursday, July 9, 2026
Nearly a week after Iranian security forces detained civil activist Hossein Alizadeh in Eslamshahr, his exact whereabouts and any charges against him remain unknown.
According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Alizadeh was detained outside his home in Eslamshahr, Tehran province, on July 4, 2026, and taken to an undisclosed location.
Sources familiar with the case said Alizadeh was allowed to make only one brief phone call to his family after his detention. During the call, he confirmed that he had been detained but, under pressure from interrogators, did not disclose where he was being held or which agency had detained him.
His family’s repeated inquiries with prosecutors and security agencies in Eslamshahr have so far yielded no information.
Alizadeh had previously been detained over his civil activities, including during the Woman, Life, Freedom protests and the January 2026 protests.
