Iranian authorities hold social media activist Fatemeh Jami for 10 days

 Social media activist Fatemeh Jami remained in detention for 10 days after being arrested over her social media activity in the city of Gorgan.

According to information obtained by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Fatemeh Jami was detained on June 30, 2026, when officers from Iran’s Cyber Police, known as FATA, raided her home in Gorgan, Golestan province.

Sources familiar with the case said Jami was transferred to the Gorgan Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, where she was informed of charges including “insulting sacred values” and “links to hostile groups.”

Jami’s detention is linked to her personal online activity, particularly posts critical of authorities that she published on ⁠Instagram.
