Isfahan University of Art faculty member Mehdi Saadvandi arrested

Iranian security forces arrested Mehdi Saadvandi, a faculty member in the Department of Architecture at Isfahan University of Art, during a raid on his home and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Saadvandi was arrested on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. He holds a PhD in architecture from Shahid Beheshti University and has taught in the Department of Architecture at Isfahan University of Art as a faculty member since 2009.

United Students reported that Iranian security forces raided Saadvandi’s home on Tuesday and arrested him.

The agency responsible for his arrest, his current status, and his place of detention remain unknown.
