Security forces arrest diver Najmeh Sadat Bonyan

Iranian security forces arrested Najmeh Sadat Bonyan, a diver from Dezful, and transferred her to Sepidar Prison in Ahvaz.

According to a report received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Bonyan was arrested on Saturday, August 29, 2026. In a brief phone call with her family, she confirmed that she had been transferred to the women’s ward of Sepidar Prison.

During the call, Bonyan said she had been charged with “insulting the sacred” and that the judge handling her case was named Zadali.

Authorities have not disclosed the agency responsible for her arrest, the specific court branch handling her case, the type of bail or detention order issued, or the specific allegations underlying the charge against her.
