Sediq Karimi arrested in Bukan, whereabouts unknown

Iranian Intelligence Department forces arrested Sediq Karimi, a Kurdish man from Bukan, during a raid on his family home and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the raid took place at around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, without a warrant.

Karimi had previously been sentenced to six months in prison by the Iranian judiciary for wearing “khaki Kurdish clothing” at a wedding ceremony in Piranshahr.

Authorities have not disclosed the reasons for his latest arrest, the charges against him, or his place of detention. His family’s efforts to obtain information about his whereabouts have so far been unsuccessful.
