Former political prisoner Jassem Sawaedi arrested in Ahvaz

Iranian Intelligence Department forces arrested Jassem Sawaedi (Saedi), a 42-year-old Arab political activist and former political prisoner from Hamidiyeh, in Ahvaz and transferred him to an undisclosed location.

According to information received by Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, Sawaedi, a resident of Hamidiyeh in Khuzestan Province, was arrested on Monday, September 14, 2026, while in Ahvaz.

Iranian authorities have not disclosed the reason for his renewed arrest, the charges against him, or his place of detention. Sawaedi has been denied access to a lawyer and contact with his family.
