At least 20 Kurdish children summoned and interrogated in Oshnavieh

Iranian authorities have summoned and interrogated at least 20 Kurdish children in Oshnavieh (Shno) over their social media activity amid an intensified crackdown ahead of the anniversary of the state killing of Jina Amini. Their mobile phones were confiscated, and they face charges of “propaganda against the state.”

Based on information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, at least 20 Kurdish children under the age of 18 have been summoned and interrogated in recent days by the Public Places Supervision and Police Intelligence departments in Oshnavieh. They were subsequently released on bail guarantees.

Informed sources told Hengaw that the children, whose identities are being withheld for their protection, face charges of “propaganda against the state,” with their social media activity cited as the basis for the charges.

Security forces also confiscated the children’s mobile phones and other electronic devices. Despite their release, the devices have not been returned.
