Kurdish citizen accused of political activity, imprisoned in Iran

Hengaw – A Kurdish citizen from Mahabad, who has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment, transferred to Mahabad Central Prison on November 4th, a close relative told Hengaw on condition of anonymity.
Ismael Bokani was accused of cooperation with one of the Kurdish political opposition parties outside of Iran. The city’s Revolutionary Court has sentenced Bokani to one-year imprisonment about two months ago.
His mother, Ronak Aghaee, has also spent 14 days in prison when she was arrested on September 25 for celebrating the independence referendum of Iraqi Kurdistan. She was temporarily released on bail of 200 million Toman (about 57 million USD.), the source informed.
Thousands of Iranian Kurds showed their support, attending street ceremonies, to the Kurdish independence vote by their fellow Kurds from neighboring country of Iraq on September 25th.
