Hengaw – Thursday, July 3, 2025

Pedram Mohammadzadeh, a Gilak citizen from Rudsar, and Shamim Navai, a resident of Gonbad Kavus, were arrested by the security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran following the publication of content related to the Iran-Israel war. They have been transferred respectively to the prisons of Rudsar and Gonbad Kavus, where they remain in indefinite detention.

According to information received by the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, Mohammadzadeh—a 32-year-old poet, writer, and researcher from Rahimabad, Rudsar in Gilan Province—was arrested at his home by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and subsequently transferred to Rudsar Prison.

Mohammadzadeh’s arrest followed the publication of material concerning the Iran-Israel war on social media. He faces charges including “propaganda against the state,” “insulting Supreme Leader Khamenei,” and “insulting religious sanctities.” Despite suffering from cervical disc disease, he has been denied access to necessary medication and is being held in Rudsar Prison without adherence to the principle of separation of prisoners based on the nature of their offenses.

Similarly, Navai, a resident of Gonbad Kavus in Golestan Province, was arrested approximately two weeks ago by security forces following the publication of several Instagram stories. He is currently held in indefinite detention in Ward 2 of Gonbad Kavus Prison.

His case has been referred to Branch 3 of the Gonbad Kavus Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Saeedi.

No verified information is available regarding the status or condition of either individual.
