Ainaz Zare, a 17-year-old girl from Urmia, sentenced to 5 years in prison

Hengaw : A 17-year-old girl from Urmia of West Azerbaijan province who has been imprisoned with her mother in Urmia Central Prison since last year, has been sentenced to prison for being a member of a Kurdish opposition party.

 According to a report received by Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Monday, November 16, 2020, Ainaz Zare, a 17-year political prisoner in women's ward of Urmia Central Prison, was sentenced by the First Branch of the Urmia Juvenile Criminal Court to 5 years in prison. 

 This sentence was issued on charges of acting against national security through membership in Kurdistan Freedom Party (PAK) and was immediately notified to her .

This political prisoner, who is under 18, was denied the right of accessing to a lawyer during her trial .

 Ainaz Zare and her 32-year-old mother, Shahnaz Sadeghifar, have been detained by Iranian intelligence forces on borders of Baneh  since September 2019 and have been in prison since then .  Shahnaz Sadeghifar fought for 3 years in the ranks of the Free Kurdistan Party against ISIS and returned to the Baneh border after receiving a safe-conduct letter from the Iranian intelligence service, but she was detained.

 Shahnaz (Birvan) Sadeghifar was tried by the Second Branch of the Revolutionary Court of Urmia, headed  by Judge Sheikhlou, on Tuesday, July 26, and sentenced to six years in prison on charges of "membership in the Kurdistan Freedom Party (Pak)."  She was also denied the right of accessing to a lawyer during  her trial.
