Hengaw : Following the publication of a statement by Iranian Police and the claim that Mehrdad Talashi from Divandarreh district of Kurdistan Province died due to a “ Heart Attack ” , in a phone call with Hengaw , a relative of the Taleshi's family denied Iranian Police’s claims and allegations in the published statement and cited them as “ complete lies “.
According to a statement released by the Iranian Police on Friday, February 12, 2021, through the state media, the cause of Mehrdad Taleshi's death was announced as " Heart Attack" and was stated that the detention centers were monitored by CCTV cameras.
In this regard, a relative of the Taleshi family, who did not want to be named for security reasons, denied this statement and told Hengaw : "Today, Khosrow Taleshi, Mehrdad's father, went to the Shapur Police Station’s Detention Center and asked them that if they really had CCTV cameras inside the detention centres he would want to see the recorded tape on day when Mehrdad was arrested . But the Police Station’s officials said they can only show the tape of the guard officer and that inside detention Center will not be shown to anyone ,even with court’s order."
In another part of the statement published by the Iranian Police , it is stated that Mehrdad Taleshi was arrested by the police forces " on charges of carrying drugs" and suffered a “ Heart Attack” in the detention center and died after being transferred to medical centre.
The source repeatedly confirmed that "Mehrdad did not smoke cigarettes or anything else during his lifetime and was financially well off and had no need to deal or carry drugs."
On the other hand, as previously stated in Hengaw’s report , on Wednesday last week, the officials of Baharloo Hospital told the Taleshi’s family that their son’s corpse had been transferred to the hospital by the Iranian Intelligence Service and that they had no information about the cause of his death. The Iranian police claimed that he lost his life after being transferred to the medical centers, which is completely contrary to what Baharloo Hospital’s officials have stated .
The sources also said that today the Iranian security services have threatened Taleshi’s family to not talk to any media, otherwise they would face consequences.
21-year-old Mehrdad Taleshi was arrested by Iranian security forces in Tehran at Tehran Bazzar’s subway station at around 5:00 PM on Monday, February 1, 2021 , and was transferred to the Police station number 113, and after one hour l to the Police station number 115, and from there to the Shapur intelligence center . He was tortured to death and his family has confirmed the beatings and bruises on his head and neck.
It is worth mentioning that another person was arrested along with Mehrdad Taleshi. According to the Taleshi’s family, it was stated in the case file that he was carrying 7 grams of marijuana and the Iranian Intelligence Services deliberately erased that person’s name from the case file and did not allow Taleshi’s family to know the identify of this person .
